20 Women Win China Youth Science and Technology Award

The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) on August 30 announced 100 recipients of the China Youth Science and Technology Award, 20 of whom are women.
There are 10 recipients of the Special Awards of the China Youth Science and Technology Award, 2 of whom are women. Chen Lingling, researcher of the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and He Yuanzhi, chief expert of the Academy of Military Sciences of People's Liberation Army, won the special awards.
The 20 women scientific and technological workers specialize in various research areas including science, engineering, agriculture and medicine. They have made excellent accomplishments in scientific research such as aerospace science, life science, medicine and mathematics.
At present, women account for 40 percent of the scientific and technological workers in China, and play major roles in all fields of science and technology.
The China Youth Science and Technology Award is a biennial award for young scientific and technological workers across the country. It has a history of more than 30 years and is jointly organized by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the CAST.
